About KOFIHThe Korea Foundation for International Healthcare (KOFIH) held an opening ceremony for a new Emergency Medical Training and Simulation Center on September 8, 2026, at the Tashkent Region Branch of the Republican Center for Emergency Medical Care in Uzbekistan. The official website of the Uzbek institution identifies the facility as its Tashkent Region branch.

The center was established as part of KOFIH’s Strengthening the Capacity of Emergency Medical Service in Uzbekistan project. The project aims to enhance the professional expertise and practical competencies of pre-hospital emergency medical personnel through cooperation with Uzbekistan’s Republican Center for Emergency Medical Care, while improving the quality of emergency medical services provided to the public. KOFIH’s English website uses “Strengthening the Capacity of Emergency Medical Service in Uzbekistan” as the official English project title.
Launched in 2019, the first phase of the project established emergency medical training and simulation centers in Tashkent City and Samarkand Region. A total of USD 2.8 million was provided for the first phase, which concluded in 2023.
The second phase, launched in 2024 with a total budget of USD 8 million, is expanding emergency medical training and simulation centers across Uzbekistan. The newly established center is equipped with modern medical simulators and training equipment designed to replicate real-world emergency care situations. KOFIH’s official English website lists the second phase as “Strengthening the Capacity of Emergency Medical Service in Uzbekistan, 2nd Phase.”

The center will provide hands-on, field-oriented training for physicians and other emergency medical personnel, as well as ambulance drivers. The training is expected to systematically strengthen the practical skills required to respond to emergency patients from the scene of an incident through transport to a healthcare facility.
KOFIH will continue to support the development of Uzbekistan’s emergency medical education system and the capacity building of its emergency medical workforce, while maintaining cooperation with local partner institutions to help establish a sustainable foundation for emergency medical services.
The newly opened training and simulation center in Tashkent Region is part of these broader efforts to expand emergency medical training infrastructure nationwide.
