To commemorate its 20th anniversary, the Korea Foundation for International Healthcare (KOFIH) co-hosted the Seminar on Inter-Korean Health and Medical Cooperation Strategies for Building a Healthy Korean Peninsula Community on July 24 at the National Assembly Members’ Office Building. The seminar was jointly organized with the Center for Unification Medicine at Seoul National University College of Medicine and the National Assembly Forum on Global Health.

The seminar reviewed the achievements and challenges of inter-Korean health and medical cooperation and explored mid- to long-term strategies for advancing collaboration toward the vision of a healthy Korean Peninsula community.

Approximately 100 participants from government agencies, the National Assembly, academia, the medical community, and civil society attended the event. The program consisted of three sessions featuring six presentations, followed by a panel discussion.

Participants shared the view that sustained inter-Korean cooperation in the health sector is essential for responding effectively to public health challenges, including infectious diseases. They also emphasized the importance of strengthening collaboration among government, academia, healthcare institutions, and civil society.

Building on the discussions from the seminar, KOFIH will further develop mid- to long-term strategies for inter-Korean health and medical cooperation and continue working with relevant partners to support the realization of a healthy Korean Peninsula community.
