[KOFIH News] KOFIH Holds 2026 Orientation for Newly Recruited KDRT Medical Team Members

The Korea Foundation for International Healthcare (KOFIH) held the 2026 Orientation for Newly Recruited Korea Disaster Relief Team (KDRT) Medical Team Memberson June 25, 2026, at Pullman Ambassador Seoul Eastpolein Seoul.

The orientation was attended by KOFIH President Il-Soo Ha, newly recruited and senior members of the KDRT Medical Team civilian personnel pool, and representatives from the KDRT Secretariat (Korea International Cooperation Agency, KOICA). The program was designed to enhance new members' understanding of the KDRT Medical Team and strengthen the competencies required for responding to overseas disaster situations.

During the orientation, participants learned about the KDRT Medical Team's civilian personnel pool management system, education and training programs, and other essential information for team members. They also gained a better understanding of the role of the KDRT Secretariat and the deployment process.

In addition, a networking session with experienced KDRT members provided an opportunity for new recruits to learn from firsthand deployment experiences, exchange practical field knowledge, and gain a deeper appreciation of the mission and responsibilities of the KDRT Medical Team.

Through the Task Classification Exercise for Overseas Deploymentand the VR-based Mobile Field Hospital Operation Experience, participants developed a better understanding of the roles they may perform in disaster response operations while strengthening the practical skills and teamwork required in overseas emergency settings. These activities also helped familiarize new members with the KDRT Medical Team's operational procedures and collaborative system, further motivating them to participate in future education and training programs.

KOFIH will continue to strengthen the education and training of the KDRT Medical Team and further enhance its response capacity in line with international standards to ensure timely and professional healthcare assistance during overseas disasters.
