The Korea Foundation for International Healthcare (KOFIH) conducted an invitational training program for 16 officials from the Ministry of Health of Uzbekistan and related institutions from June 20 to 27, 2026, to strengthen the country's national cancer control and cervical cancer screening capacity.

The program was organized under the Project for Strengthening National Cervical Cancer Screening in Uzbekistan (2025–2030)currently implemented by KOFIH. It aims to support the development of Uzbekistan's national cancer control system and enhance its capacity to implement an effective cervical cancer screening program.

The opening ceremony was held on June 22, attended by representatives from KOFIH, the National Cancer Center of Korea, the Ministry of Health of Uzbekistan, and participating trainees.

Participants include policymakers and technical experts from key institutions, including the Ministry of Health, the National Center for Maternal and Child Health, the Republican Specialized Scientific and Practical Medical Center of Oncology and Radiology, the Viral Disease Hospital, and the Committee for Sanitary and Epidemiological Welfare. Throughout the program, they will learn about Korea's policies, systems, and practical experiences in national cancer control and cervical cancer screening.

The training program is jointly organized by KOFIH and the Graduate School of Cancer Science and Policy of the National Cancer Center. As Korea's leading institution for national cancer control, the National Cancer Center designed and delivered the training curriculum while sharing Korea's experience in developing and operating its national cancer control policies and cancer screening system.

Participants are scheduled to visit major Korean health institutions, including the National Cancer Center, the National Health Insurance Service, the Health Insurance Review & Assessment Service, the National Biobank of Korea, and the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety. The program covers Korea's national cancer control system, cancer screening program management, cancer registration and surveillance, healthcare big data utilization, quality assurance for screening services, and laboratory diagnostic systems.

In addition, participants will attend seminars and workshops on cervical cancer screening policies, epidemiological research, data utilization, and evidence-based policymaking. The program also provides an opportunity to discuss future cooperation and practical approaches to strengthening Uzbekistan's national screening system based on Korea's experience.

KOFIH will continue working closely with the Government of Uzbekistan and relevant stakeholders to support the establishment of a national cervical cancer screening system, strengthen quality management, and enhance the capacity of healthcare professionals, ultimately contributing to improved women's health and quality of life in Uzbekistan.
