[KOFIH News] KOFIH Ghana Office Opens Biomedical Engineering Workshop at Greater Accra Regional Hospital

The KOFIH Ghana Office supported the establishment of a Biomedical Engineering Workshop at the Greater Accra Regional Hospital and held an opening ceremony on-site on March 19, 2026.

The workshop was built as part of the office's ongoing "Strengthening Biomedical Engineering System Project in Ghana," with the aim of promoting systematic maintenance of medical devices and enhancing the capacity of biomedical engineering personnel. The facility is expected to support the inspection and maintenance of medical devices used at healthcare institutions in the region, and to serve as a hub for the education and training of biomedical engineers.


The opening ceremony was attended by Dr. Samuel Kaba Akoriyea, Director-General of the Ghana Health Service, Dr. Robert Amesiya, Greater Accra Regional Director of Health, along with officials from the Ministry of Health and representatives from the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Ghana. Dr. Kaba expressed his gratitude for KOFIH's continued support and emphasized that establishing a stable medical device management system plays a critical role in improving healthcare services.

Mr. Yang Bo-min, Country Representative of the KOFIH Ghana Office, stated, "This workshop will serve as a foundation for strengthening medical device maintenance capabilities and providing safer, more reliable healthcare services," and affirmed the office's commitment to continuing its collaboration with Ghana's health authorities.


KOFIH plans to continue working in partnership with Ghana's health authorities to strengthen medical device management capacity and improve the overall healthcare system going forward.
