The Korea Foundation for International Healthcare (KOFIH) hosted a special lecture on Tuesday, July 22, at the Dr. Lee Jong-wook Hall on the 7th floor of KOFIH. The event featured former Director General for International Cooperation Yoon Chan- Sik of the Ministry of Health and Welfare (former Director of the Latin America and Caribbean Division at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, former Ambassador to Paraguay).

During his tenure as the Director General, Mr. Yoon led the establishment of international cooperation and ODA policies in the healthcare sector. He subsequently served as Director General for Latin America and the Caribbean at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and as Ambassador to Paraguay, accumulating extensive international cooperation experience. This special lecture, titled “Healthcare ODA and Diplomacy: Sharing Experiences from the Field in Latin America,” provided an in-depth presentation focusing on the interconnectedness of development cooperation and diplomacy.

The lecture covered ▲global healthcare phenomena and challenges ▲Korea's global standing and ODA status ▲the cooperative relationship between Paraguay, a key South American country, and Korea, along with ODA case studies. Attendees gained significant insights into the importance of field experience in international development cooperation and diplomatic approaches.

Through this special lecture, KOFIH provided an opportunity for its staff to analyze global health and medical trends, strengthen their project planning and response capabilities, and concretely explore cooperation possibilities with Latin American countries. Moving forward, the Korea Foundation for International Healthcare will continue to expand its expertise and cooperation capabilities in the global health field through various expert lectures and exchange activities.
