About KOFIH□ The Korea Foundation for International Healthcare (KOFIH) conducted a three-day laparoscopic surgery training at the Cape Coast Training Hospital in Ghana from July 24 to 26, 2024, as part of Community Chest of Korea-sponsored Laparoscopic Surgery Capacity Building Project in Ghana. The training was held for a total of 17 doctors, nurses, and biomedical engineersat the Cape Coast Training Hospital, and participants received in-depth training on the basic concepts of laparoscopic surgery, equipment usage, and surgical procedures.
□ The CEO of the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital said that the project is expected to significantly improve the quality of medical care at the hospital. The theoretical training is an important step in laying the foundation for laparoscopic surgery, which will be followed by hands-on, large animal and applied training in the future.
□ The collaboration between KOFIH and the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital is expected to enhance the surgical capacity of Ghanaian medical staff, which, in turn, will contribute to improving the quality of healthcare in the community. Going forward, KOFIH continues to provide various support to strengthen health system in Ghana.
