About KOFIH
2026 marks the meaningful 20th anniversary of the passing of the late Dr. Lee Jong-wook.
Dr. Lee Jong-wook was the first Korean national to lead an international organization. Guided by his belief that everyone should have access to essential healthcare services, he devoted his life to advancing global health. His dedication and philosophy continue to leave an important legacy in the field of global health today, and the Korea Foundation for International Healthcare (KOFIH) proudly carries forward his spirit.
To commemorate this occasion, an official WHO side event will be held during the 79th World Health Assembly (WHA79). The World Health Assembly is the WHO’s highest decision-making body, where key global health agendas and policy directions are discussed each year. This year’s assembly will take place in Geneva from May 18 to 23.
