About KOFIHOn July 4, 2025, the Korea Foundation for International Healthcare held an experience-sharing session of UNHCR SIF training the KDRT medical team had attended in Atrium located on the 6th floor of KOFIH.
The UNHCR Safety in the Field training, which was the subject of the sharing session, took place in Thailand for five days from April 21 to 25. The training, which was attended by civilian members of the KDRT medical team affiliated with KOFIH, was designed to effectively respond to various threats that aid workers may face in disaster settings.
The training course systematically covered emergency situations that can occur in the field, including robberies, explosions, riots and terrorism, and kidnappings. Through simulation drills that vividly reproduced theoretical and real-life situations, the members intensively improved their judgment and response skills in crisis situations. In particular, such field safety training is recognized as an essential life-saving process for humanitarian aid workers working in conflict zones or disaster-affected areas.
After having successfully completing the training, KDRT members, Kim Hee-jung and Park Hyun-min, shared their valuable experiences with the KOFIH employees at a sharing session. As the safety response techniques and practical know-hows they learned first-hand in the field were conveyed along with vivid examples, it was a meaningful time to spread their expertise to KOFIH employees. Through their participation in the training and the subsequent experience sharing session, the KDRT medical team members were able to significantly improve their crisis response capabilities in the field overseas. At the same time, the process of sharing the training experience deepened the mutual understanding and cooperation between the team members and the KOFIH staff.
The KDRT will continue to expand the role of the medical team and strengthen its expertise through its activities.
