About KOFIHOn June 10, 2025, the Korea Foundation for International Healthcare held a policy course sharing session for the ‘Strengthening the Capacity of Uzbekistan Emergency Medical Service in Uzbekistan, 2nd Phase’ in the meeting room on the 6th floor of KOFIH.
The course was held for 12 days and 13 nights from June 2 to 13, and was attended by four officials from the Uzbekistan Republican Ambulance Center (RAC). The course was held to support the establishment of a master plan for emergency medical services in the partner country through a tour of Korea's emergency medical service institutions and related training.
During the sharing session, the Uzbek trainees presented action plans for improving emergency medical services, with a vision to "improve the system of providing emergency medical services to the population" and a mission to "improve efficiency, accessibility, and quality of care through a complete reorganization of the country's EMS".
The improvement goals across four key areas include establishing an EMS education infrastructure and ensuring competency-based training for all EMS personnel in the education sector. For the policy sector, the aim is to develop a legal and institutional framework to standardize EMS operations and governance. In transportation, the focus is on enhancing EMS accessibility by expanding the ambulance system and establishing transportation standards. Lastly, for CQI, the goal is to improve EMS quality through continuous quality improvement programs.
Future plans include the receipt of the Record of Discussion (ROD) and signing of the MOU addendum for project implementation (procurement of equipment), participation in a local workshop in July (scheduled on July 10), and a project monitoring trip. Through this sharing meeting, a concrete action plan for strengthening the capacity of emergency medical services in Uzbekistan was established, and we will continue to cooperate to successfully implement the project.
